This webinar is led by Gretchen I. Jones, independent scholar and former Associate Dean, Curriculum and Programs at the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is a higher education administration professional recognized for her ability to facilitate curriculum improvement and transformation. Her unique talent in envisioning and developing e-learning and distance curriculum is supported by outcomes-based approaches to teaching and learning, as well as backward design. She has extensive experience enabling and accelerating curriculum transformation by bringing “big picture” clarity and vision to curriculum design teams. In this session, Dr. Jones will share best practices in teaching and learning language online and provide concrete examples of activities and assessments that not only fit the online context, but encourage engagement while allowing students to demonstrate their language proficiency. The webinar will also offer ideas and suggestions for maintaining academic integrity at a distance. Introductions and moderation for the question and answer portion will be done by Stefania Burke (Associate Dean, Academic, Faculty of Arts).
