Describe what you do at Arts ISIT

My daily responsibilities include assisting faculty and instructors with technology-related issues and continuously innovating to provide the best and latest learning tools and technologies to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

I also develop websites tailored to specific requests from different faculty members. Additionally, I create automated scripts and programs to help my team improve efficiency and save time.

What is the best thing about the work you do at Arts ISIT?

The best part of working in this team is the opportunity to meet brilliant individuals from various units and faculties, and learning from their unique ideas and diverse experiences. I also enjoy having the chance to engage with the latest technologies.

What are your areas of expertise?

My areas of expertise are educational technology, website development, automation, and machine learning.

Additionally, I am fluent in English, Chinese, and Japanese.

Which services does your work relate to?

Please list some related projects/tools/resources you work on

  • UDL Econometrics Project: I am developing an extension/add-on that allows screen readers to interpret complex mathematical expressions and translates LaTeX into natural language.
  • Python Automated Script for Fixing Broken Media in Canvas: I developed a Python program using the Canvas API to create an automated script that searches for and fixes any broken media in Canvas.
  • Ethnography UBC Blog Website Development: I developed a website by working on both the front-end and back-end to meet the instructor’s specific design and requirements.

Can you share some of your personal interests or hobbies?

  • Hiking, badminton, billiards, soccer
  • Board games and online games (particularly Dota 2 and most games from Blizzard)
  • Auto sports and racing with friends on tracks during the summer
  • Coding and learning from others’ open-source projects: Recently, I found the AI Retrieval based Voice Conversion project on GitHub particularly interesting.
  • Podcasting: I created and host my own podcast where I invite guests from various industries.
