Buying a computer with Arts ISIT

Support for purchasing Windows equipment

We offer recommendations for Dell Windows desktops, laptops, and computer monitors. These suggestions offer great performance and reliability at a fair cost and can run all office software, multimedia software and statistical software.

Warranty

Dell Windows desktops and laptops come with three years of warranty support from Dell, including parts replacement by the next business day.

Dell Windows laptops are also covered for one accidental damage such as drops and liquid spills each year for the first three years, as well as one free battery replacement anytime during the first three years. This will ensure your laptop can last for up to 6 years before replacement and help reduce costs.

Support for purchasing Apple equipment

Buying your own computer

We support you purchasing your own computer. However, there will be differences in our level of support.

Support for maintaining your own computer

Warranty: We will not be able to arrange warranty work with the manufacturer. If there is a hardware defect, you will have to work with the manufacturer to arrange to have the item shipped to them for repair.

Compatibility: We cannot guarantee that UBC applications or systems will work with your device, as it is impossible to test every device for compatibility.

Support: We may not be familiar with the device you own, so troubleshooting and support will be on a best effort basis.


Ordering a computer with the help of Arts ISIT

If you’d like our assistance with ordering a new computer, please complete the following steps:

  1. Select the item you wish to purchase using the webform below.
  2. Arts ISIT will contact you via phone or email with discounted pricing and to answer any questions regarding the purchase.
  3. Visit the Help Desk in person to enter your credit card information, billing address, and shipping address into the vendor’s website. The order will be placed using your own information.
  4. The vendor will ship the item to your specified shipping address. If the vendor is having issues processing the order, they will contact you. If you wish to modify or cancel your order, please contact the vendor directly.

  • Desktops come with an Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor, 16GB of RAM and 256GB storage, suitable for all office and multimedia work.
  • Laptops are 14" and 16" and come with an Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor, 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, suitable for all office and multimedia work.
  • Monitors are 24" and 27", suitable for all office and multimedia work.
  • For Macs, please go to http://store.apple.com/ca_edu_108250 and place your order. For Windows, please specify your custom specs and use cases for your computer.
  • Standard software: Upon receiving the computer, we will install the following applications onto your computer as part of our standard setup: Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Chrome, Firefox, VLC, Cisco Secure Endpoint, Encryption with Bitlocker (Windows) or FileVault (MacOS). If you require any other software, please mention it in the Comments box below.
