UBC Blogs as a Multidimensional Tool for Assessment: From Language Production to Intercultural Connections (June 24, 2020)

How can instructors help students make the connection between classroom learning and its “real world” applications? How can students fit their academic work into the contexts of their communities? For many instructors, the answer is UBC Blogs. This unique session features Lecturer of Spanish, Maria Carbonetti, who will share how she has made use of student created UBC Blogs as a multidimensional tool for assessment, from language production to intercultural connections. Participants can expect to come away with ideas on how to incorporate UBC Blogs into their class materials, how blogs operate as a holistic assessment tool, as well as the successes and challenges of blog assignments.
