If you are curious about experiential learning, come hear Dr. Janice Stewart share how she structured and developed her course on gaming literacy in pop culture. This one of a kind instructor-led session promises to inspire participants with new ideas for online course delivery and options on how they can make use of alternate methods in their own courses.
Using the Guild Wars 2 game, Janice encourages her students to critically examine their attachments to their avatars and consider what keeps them playing the game aside from the satisfaction of competition or accomplishment. This course is largely designed around key assignments that students are required to complete along the way, one of them a bi-weekly blog where students record and share their experiences and their own strategies for connecting cultural knowledge to their everyday lives.
