Software for Securing & Proctoring Exams

Ensure the academic integrity of exams on your terms.

UBC instructors looking to secure their exams may use tools such as LockDown Browser and Zoom setups for monitoring online assessments. These options offer features suitable for a variety of test environments, including live monitoring through Zoom. The comparison chart below may be used as a guide to help instructors identify which option is best suited to their assessment needs.

Note that this chart only lists exam tools supported by UBC.  Automated proctoring tools are not used due to significant concerns about student privacy, equity, and accessibility. For detailed information, please refer to the official UBC Senate motion summary.
