Call for Letters of Intent for Large TLEF projects now open

The call for Large Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) Transformation Project proposals is now open. We invite you to submit an Arts Abstract for feedback and consultation ahead of submitting the letter of intent. For details about the TLEF call and the Arts Abstract process, please see Arts ISIT’s webpage on the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund.

If you are considering developing a proposal for a Large TLEF Transformation Project or are unsure about whether your idea would be better suited as a Large or Small TLEF Project, please submit an internal Arts Abstractno later than Tuesday, July 6, 2021.  This will allow Arts ISIT staff and the Dean’s office to work with you on the LOI submission that is due by 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021.  Arts Abstracts can be submitted online through Arts ISIT’s TLEF webpage.

The Faculty of Arts strongly encourages early abstract submission for new Large TLEF projects to facilitate discussion and consultation ahead of the LOI submissions. These abstracts may be very rough sketches. We would like to allow time for consultation with different stakeholders before the official deadlines.  The abstract will be reviewed by Arts ISIT staff and shared with Associate Deans to provide feedback on the pedagogical goals, the use of technology, and budgeting for the projects.  We will also assist in the coordination of similar projects within the Faculty and facilitate connections to existing projects. Also, we would like to support discussions with central units, CTLT, and UBC IT. We believe the additional time will support connection and help create a strong proposal.

Large TLEF Transformation Project applicants whose LOIs are accepted will be invited to submit a full proposal by the October 14, 2021 deadline.

The call for proposals for Small TLEF Project proposals is expected to be announced in early September 2021.  If you are considering proposing a project under the Small TLEF category and want to get started early or have questions, please feel free to contact us.

For more information regarding the overall TLEF process and criteria, please visit the UBC TLEF website.

If you would like to set up a consultation or have questions about the TLEF process, please contact Jason Myers, Arts Faculty Liaison, at jason.myers@ubc.ca.
