Teaching online means facilitating collaborative learning experiences in virtual spaces. The first step in this process needs to be making sure that these spaces are welcoming and hospitable. In this session, Florian Gassner (Instructor and Undergraduate Advisor of German from CENES) will not only explore Canvas options for facilitating small-group exercises via the Canvas Discussion Board and Collaborate Ultra, but also how to best use these technologies to re-create the feeling of community from our classrooms in a mediated environment.
