What year did you begin to work at Arts ISIT?
2019
Describe what you do at Arts ISIT
I work on the Learning Analytics team within Arts ISIT, where I am responsible for consulting with clients, identifying gaps in reporting needs, developing new as well as maintaining existing offerings that support Faculty of Arts processes such as promotion and tenure, and teaching award nominations, curriculum renewal, among others.
Over the past couple of years, much of my work has been focused on the transition to Workday, ensuring that the Faculty of Arts remains well-positioned to rely on the data analytics we provide despite the significant changes to the underlying system.
What is the best thing about the work you do at Arts ISIT?
The best aspect of my work at Arts ISIT is the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects that help Arts staff and faculty in their everyday work as well as supporting them in making data-informed decisions. These projects vary in scope: some are completed quickly, while others are long-term and highly complex.
I am also very fortunate to work alongside a team with expertise across many areas, including development, IT, content creation, engagement, analytics, and pedagogical and technical consultation.
Another great aspect of this job is meeting interesting people across Arts and UBC and working in an environment that encourages collaboration.
What are your areas of expertise?
My areas of expertise include data analysis, visualization, and reporting. I am skilled in Tableau, SQL, Python, C++, Java, and in creating dashboards and visualizations that turn complex and often nuanced data into actionable insights.
I am also experienced with Scrum, Agile, and Lean methodologies, having guided development teams as a Scrum Master through iterative development cycles in my previous role in the telecommunication industry (outside of UBC).
Which services does your work relate to?
Please list some related projects/tools/resources you work on
- Workday Retrofit Project (SIS) (2022-2024)
- Workday Retrofit Project (HRMS) (2019-2020)
- Instructional Support Outreach Initiative (Arts ISIT Internal)
- Arts Innovation Program (Arts ISIT Internal)
Can you share some of your personal interests or hobbies?
I love traveling with my family and try to make the most of our holidays doing just that. I enjoy exploring nature but also appreciate a good city break. Over the past couple of years, our travels have focused on Canada, as, being an immigrant, I wanted to explore more of the place we now call home.
As a soccer mom, I spend my weekends on various soccer fields across the lower mainland, cheering on my kids as they play the sport they love.
