What year did you begin to work at Arts ISIT?
2018
Describe what you do at Arts ISIT
I wear two main hats: I manage the digital strategy and user experience of our projects and services to ensure that our technological solutions align with the needs of Arts units and their users, and I manage our integrated engagement strategies and initiatives to help create awareness and understanding of our services.
What is the best thing about the work you do at Arts ISIT?
I love supporting Arts faculty and staff in effectively and efficiently sharing information using technology in an engaging and accessible way. If I can find ways to make your job easier and help you accomplish your goals through the use of technology, then it’s a win in my books.
What are your areas of expertise?
My areas of expertise include:
- Digital strategy
- UX strategy and research
- Information architecture
- Change management
- Client engagement
Which services does your work relate to?
Please list some related projects/tools/resources you work on
I am involvement in most digital projects Arts ISIT supports — whether it’s establishing a strategy for a digital solution, leading our Digital Strategy team in UX design and content development, or supporting the promotion of a project once it becomes a new service.
One of the larger projects I’ve worked on was when I teamed up with our developers and the design team in Arts Communications to establish Arts CMS and support the transition of Arts units to this new content management system, including the strategy and creation of the main Faculty of Arts website, Arts unit websites, and the Arts ISIT website.
I’ve also been focusing on how Arts ISIT can better engage with Arts faculty and staff. I’ve developed an engagement strategy for our unit and have been rolling out subsequent projects, such as an integrated engagement plan, website renewal, newsletter refresh, onboarding initiative, and events strategy. Continual improvement is important to me, so please feel free to share any feedback or recommendations on how to best communicate and collaborate with you!
Can you share some of your personal interests or hobbies?
Since I am immersed in technology in my profession, I love to spend my free time away from screens to help with my creativity. During after-hours, you’ll find me either walking my dog, attending an exercise class or playing volleyball, camping, travelling, crafting, hosting dinner parties, or reading for the book club I manage.
I’m a fan of in-person connection, so I always welcome campus walks or coffee chats at Great Dane or Loafe with fellow UBC community members. Feel free to send me a calendar invite or message me on MS Teams!
