Interview
Describe what you do at Arts ISIT
I’m a 26-year veteran of providing creative solutions to interesting and bizarre IT issues in all the different corners of the Faculty of Arts, whether it is a Windows desktop, a Linux server, or just about anything in between.
I’m originally from Tennessee in the USA and came to Vancouver in 2005 and UBC in 2009 after working at Tennessee Tech University as a Systems Administrator from 1997 to 2005.
I have worked on all sorts of things over the years, from helping manage the IT setup for performing arts venues, managing a database server for artifacts in Anthropology, or PowerShell scripting neat solutions to Exchange email problems, and I enjoy a good challenge.
What is the best thing about the work you do at Arts ISIT?
It is getting to work on a little bit of everything and talking to people in and around UBC and the Faculty while I fix whatever issues or challenges they might encounter. I try to make sure all of the people in the Faculty of Arts are taken care of in the best way possible.
What are your areas of expertise?
Windows support and administration, PowerShell, MacOS and Macs, Desktop Support and Troubleshooting/Problem Solving issues of all shapes and sizes. I’m an admin who can do a bit (or sometimes more than a bit) of just about anything.
