Place and Power: Lessons and Reflections a Year into the New BA Requirement

DATE
Wednesday August 20, 2025
TIME
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Hear from Arts instructors on their experiences with designing, proposing, and teaching Place and Power courses.

Starting in Fall 2025, all incoming Bachelor of Arts (BA) students at UBC Vancouver are required to take a designated Place and Power course as part of their degree programs. This instructor panel provides an overview of the planning and development of this initiative.

Panelists will share first-hand experiences with designing, proposing, and teaching Place and Power courses and reflect on how this work fits into their academic careers. We especially welcome questions from colleagues interested in teaching Place and Power courses or those new to the initiative.
